Østfyns Museer are responsible for enlightening the public about the development of society in our area, which currently embraces the towns of Kerteminde and Nyborg. In addition, the appeal of our art history collection at the Johannes Larsen Museum reaches out over a much broader area than eastern Funen.
We do research on many different topics and periods of time; archaeology, (which covers many thousands of years of prehistory), history, (which ranges from the Lindø Shipyard to ferry ports to military earthworks to folk costumes, crusades and buildings), landscape history (which deals with the physical development of the area, preservation and future projects) and lastly art history (which aside from Johannes Larsen and the Funish painters also includes local landscape paintings that show how the countryside and the towns have developed over the years).
