Collecting covers both material things and knowledge about society. At the Museums of Eastern Funen, we collect objects as well as knowledge in many different forms.
We have an archaeological department where the physical traces of prehistoric societies are excavated. We have an art history collection and an historical collection, each consisting of objects and stories.
Our collecting is goal-oriented in order to secure a representative sampling of traces from the development of society; we wish to expand the existing collections within our various specialties. For example, in the history department, we aim at building collections on specific subjects like market towns, fisheries, textiles, ferries and military garrisons.
